Flame away, good folk.
Edit by Matt: What Steve means to say is "Check out this nice new cleaner site design I've been working hard on! It's mostly done now, but there will be some more new additions in the near future."

Is the fodi classic cast page supposed to have pictures? Because it doesn't
Other than that, i think I like!
Yes. It is. Or rather it should. But apparently those images are no longer there.

Fodi: The Forums / News / The mess from the upgrade
|
on: April 23, 2010, 02:27:51 PM

Sorry about the awful looking news section, in addition to the forum theme being broken a bit from the upgrade, they changed the functionality we were using to bring the news posts out to the front page. They still show up, as you can tell, but it looks godawful. Its probably a dumb css issue, we're on it.
Update: I think this works, let me know if you hate it :-p

Fodi: The Forums / Site Ideas / Site work update
|

Sorry to everyone (especially Matt!) for not getting too much done lately on the new site, I've been spending my waking hours commuting, apartment hunting, and packing. The good news is once I get moved in (this weekend) I will have a much shorter commute (just a 4,5 train) and won't be spending hours apartment hunting or packing

http://prop8trialtracker.com/http://www.newsweek.com/id/229957Stuff about the current trial challenging California's "Proposition 8" on the grounds that it violates the 14th Amendment. No matter which side of the debate you fall on, its fascinating to read. The newsweek piece, "The Conservative case for same sex marriage", was written by one of the lead lawyers challenging prop8, Ted Olsen, who was also the man who lead the legal team that won the Bush v. Gore case... its really interesting to hear the argument made from the perspective of someone who isn't a "bleeding heart". I think the most important thing that tends to get missed is that it isn't the religious sacrament of marriage that people want changed, it is the legal marriage contract - the one you get from the town clerk, whether you marry in a church or the courthouse - that is what people mean when they want same-sex marriage. As you may have guessed, I support same-sex marriage. If I can get drunk and marry a complete stranger in Vegas and divorce them the next day (we call that a *good* night), why are we denying a pair of people that love each other and are willing to make a long-term commitment to each other the ability to enter into the legal contract giving them the same rights I can get with someone I mail-order from eastern europe? Start the flames? And/or chime in with rational discussion?

Fodi: The Forums / Site Ideas / New forum section!

So I'm in the middle of reworking the underlying code for the site in a way that will let us expand stuff, add features, and hopefully bring in some more interactive experience. This section is for YOU, the readers, to suggest things that you want us to do with the site.

Good luck to her! For every one of our readers who are godless heathens like me, well-wishes are acceptable to send them as well I also want to point out that not only does matt have a few drawn, we've got several weeks worth of scripts finished! In other news, I got a local test server setup on the macbook so I can finish up work on the site while I'm on the train. For those of you that don't know, I started a new job last week but it comes with an hour on the train each way, so work on the site redesign has pretty much drawn to a halt. The design is actually done, and I finished my work on porting the database information before I went up to my family's for the holidays, but I need to actually do the coding. And since AT&T was kind enough to not allow tethering (yes, I'm one of *those* people) its hard to work on a website without internet access So we'll see if I can manage to get some of it done in time for their triumphant return.
