1  Fodi: The Forums / News / Shiny? on: June 11, 2011, 10:35:14 AM
Flame away, good folk.

Edit by Matt: What Steve means to say is "Check out this nice new cleaner site design I've been working hard on! It's mostly done now, but there will be some more new additions in the near future."
2  Fodi: The Forums / News / Oh no, more changes on: December 02, 2010, 03:08:41 PM
We've got a little more in the works for you, right now a couple things to highlight are the google ads, the RSS link, and a couple little visual changes. Subscribe to our feed in your favorite reader by clicking the button in the top nav bar!

We're planning on a little more hefty of an overhaul in the next couple months, now that the back-end code was fixed this summer. So head on in to our forums and leave your suggestions in the Site Ideas section!

I'm in the process of rebuilding the forum theme, not only did we change our site but the forum updated its software, so its pretty much a start from scratch kind of experience. Bear with me!
4  Fodi: The Forums / News / A little makeover on: August 18, 2010, 12:31:04 PM
Did a little bit of freshening up on the old website... as usual, comments complaints and concerns can be sent to the forum.
5  Fodi: The Forums / News / The mess from the upgrade on: April 23, 2010, 02:27:51 PM
Sorry about the awful looking news section, in addition to the forum theme being broken a bit from the upgrade, they changed the functionality we were using to bring the news posts out to the front page. They still show up, as you can tell, but it looks godawful. Its probably a dumb css issue, we're on it.

Update: I think this works, let me know if you hate it :-p
6  Fodi: The Forums / Site Ideas / Site work update on: February 18, 2010, 01:24:49 PM
Sorry to everyone (especially Matt!) for not getting too much done lately on the new site, I've been spending my waking hours commuting, apartment hunting, and packing. The good news is once I get moved in (this weekend) I will have a much shorter commute (just a 4,5 train) and won't be spending hours apartment hunting or packing  :P

Stuff about the current trial challenging California's "Proposition 8" on the grounds that it violates the 14th Amendment. No matter which side of the debate you fall on, its fascinating to read. The newsweek piece, "The Conservative case for same sex marriage", was written by one of the lead lawyers challenging prop8, Ted Olsen, who was also the man who lead the legal team that won the Bush v. Gore case... its really interesting to hear the argument made from the perspective of someone who isn't a "bleeding heart".

I think the most important thing that tends to get missed is that it isn't the religious sacrament of marriage that people want changed, it is the legal marriage contract - the one you get from the town clerk, whether you marry in a church or the courthouse - that is what people mean when they want same-sex marriage.

As you may have guessed, I support same-sex marriage. If I can get drunk and marry a complete stranger in Vegas and divorce them the next day (we call that a *good* night), why are we denying a pair of people that love each other and are willing to make a long-term commitment to each other the ability to enter into the legal contract giving them the same rights I can get with someone I mail-order from eastern europe?

Start the flames? And/or chime in with rational discussion?
8  Fodi: The Forums / Site Ideas / New forum section! on: January 11, 2010, 01:54:12 PM
So I'm in the middle of reworking the underlying code for the site in a way that will let us expand stuff, add features, and hopefully bring in some more interactive experience. This section is for YOU, the readers, to suggest things that you want us to do with the site.

10  Fodi: The Forums / Off The Beaten Path / Late night on: October 16, 2007, 02:43:54 PM
Ah, fun. I had to refactor a trio of database tables that pretty much are used by every part of our application. So my new tables break EVERYTHING. I may or may not be making a run to Beers of the World.
11  Fodi: The Forums / Off The Beaten Path / Help convince Matt to visit Rochester! on: October 08, 2007, 08:57:57 PM
Everyone harass Matt to visit Rochester so we can destroy his blahs with liberal application of Beers of the World!
