Ajax is freaking awesome!  I use it all the time at work, it makes my pages really awesome... or as the one guy at work would say, "slicker than snot!"

There are some REALLY nice ajax extensions for asp.net that can just tack on to existing components, work with all the existing postbacks and callbacks, and I'm in the process of revamping our webapp with them... the only thing that sucks is that the script manager causes javascript errors when used on the same page as any of the ComponentArt controls... another reason to try to get rid of them :-p
